Ambuic acid是一种环己酮，具有植物致病性抗真菌、群体感应抑制和抗菌活性。氨丁酸可以抑制参与群体感应的环肽的生物合成，包括粪肠球菌的明胶酶生物合成激活信息素(gbp)、金黄色葡萄球菌的自诱导肽I (AIP-I)和无头葡萄球菌的LsrD698和LsrD826。在体内报告试验中，当给药剂量为5µg时，它可以抑制耐甲氧西林金黄色葡萄球菌(MRSA)引起的皮肤感染小鼠模型中的脓肿形成，并降低agr群体感应系统的活性。
