9(Z)，11(E)-共轭亚油酸是在牛肉和牛奶脂肪中发现的亚油酸的异构体。当浓度为100µM时，它结合过氧化物酶体增殖激活受体α，并在表达小鼠PPARα的COS-1细胞中激活受体。9(Z)，11(E)-共轭亚油酸抑制TNF-α-诱导的GLUT4表达，增加胰岛素刺激的3T3-L1脂肪细胞葡萄糖转运。饮食中添加9(Z)11(E)共轭亚油酸可降低ob/ob小鼠的空腹血糖、胰岛素和甘油三酯水平，并减少白色脂肪组织巨噬细胞浸润。它还会增加断奶小鼠的体重和体脂。
