6-thio-dG是端粒酶底物前体，具有抗癌活性。在以A549肺癌细胞为基础的小鼠异种移植研究中，6-thio-dG 对肿瘤生长速度的降低优于6-硫代鸟嘌呤治疗。此外，6-thio-dG 在体内增加了肿瘤细胞的端粒功能障碍。
