Doxazosin是一种α-1肾上腺素受体阻滞剂，可抑制交感神经末梢释放的去甲肾上腺素与血管平滑肌细胞膜上α-1受体的结合。血管平滑肌α -1肾上腺素能作用的阻塞导致血管阻力和抗高血压活性的降低。该药物还显示出与前列腺中主要功能类型α -1c肾上腺素受体的高亲和力，这可能部分归因于其治疗良性前列腺增生的效果。
